WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A "CANCELLATION" & A "LATE CANCELLATION?"

Missing therapy sessions can be an expensive proposition. All therapists have a cancellation policy. Most (but definitely not all) therapists require at least 48 hours notice for a cancellation. This allows the therapist to see other clients in need of support during that time. If you cancel within the allotted time frame, you should not be charged for the missed session.

A "late cancellation" means that you cancelled your appointment too late. If there is a 48 hour cancellation policy, and you cancel 4 hours before, this is an example of a "late cancellation." Ask your therapist what will be the penalty for a late cancellation. You will find most often that you are going to be charged either a cancellation fee or for the full cost of the session. REMEMBER that your insurance will not cover the cost of a late cancellation.
